Chilean Miner Rescue Operation

Thursday, 14 October 2010 12:11:41 BST

The rescue team in Chile is relying on Oakley eyewear to protect the miners’ eyes when they are brought back to the surface.

Based on their requirements and full product specifications, Oakley donated 35 pairs of Oakley Radar® with Black Iridium® lenses in Path™ and Range® lens shapes for the miners who will need the protection of Oakley sunglasses as their eyes return to normal. Minister of Mining Laurence Golborne (who is leading the rescue) has asked to wear one of the extra pairs to show solidarity.

NB. Oakley Radar’s will be back in stock soon but to see other sunglasses from the Oakley range check out www.lovemyframes.com

Must have - New Prada 'Swing' Collection

Tuesday, 12 October 2010 14:47:28 BST

In the dimly lit surrounds of New York jazz club, Joe's Pub, the fashion label, Prada, unveiled its new collection of 'Swing' sunglasses. Alongside this, it launched its latest advertising campaign - shot by Steven Meisel - in which beehived model, Angela Lindvall, seductively sings 'Fever', surrounded by dancers decked in A/W 2010's 1950s silhouettes.

In jazz speak, 'swing' means the smooth turn from one chord to another, hence the glasses' swooping lines and ivory, black and tortoise shell colours. Like the womenswear collection, the sunglasses are a minimalist update of 1950s vintage femininity. Think Mad Men - think Prada Swing.

OAKLEY JOINS THE 3D BANDWAGON!

Thursday, 16 September 2010 09:50:57 BST

Oakley has just announced that it has developed what it describes as the first 3D eyewear with "optically correct" lenses, and that it will be rolling out its first 3D glasses sometime soon. Using Oakley's HDO-3D technology, they promise "unparalleled visual clarity," along with a wider peripheral viewing angle and a truer alignment of 3D images. We're unsure on Oakley's pricing at the moment but they should be available next year with a worldwide launch. Watch this space!
